On Brock Street in Whitby, just a couple of kilometres north of the historic Four Corners, is a large restaurant whose potential lay untapped until restaurateurs Chris and Russ bought it in 2009. They opened The Brock House, a “Muskoka cottage meets Whistler chalet,” and have been serving the people of Whitby good food ever since.
At The Brock House, the menu features such tasty items as shrimp and lobster pot pie, sweet potato gnocchi, pizza (gluten-free dough available) and lamb shank - all served in an inviting environment with exposed brick walls and that cozy chalet feel.

Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of dining at The Brock House for their Tapas Thursday! The food was outstanding! It's so nice to see a restaurant in Durham Region trying something new. I really loved that I could try a few different appetizers. Definitely check out the Brock House. Great food, great atomsphere! You won't be disappointed.
|We have been to this restaurant 6 times, everytime we were hoping it would get better, well tonight we had the worst meal ever, club sandwich no taste what so ever, my husband ordered the hamburger one word awful, he said it was so dry and again absolutely no taste. Interior of this restaurant is really nice great ambiance, however it stops there. We love Hot Rocks and expected the same qualty of food not a chance, we were so dissapointed. Hopefully the owners will read these reviews and inprove food and service.
Had the coconut shrimp for starters, then the 8 & 10 oz prime roast beef with baked potato & veggies, with a half litre of red Merlot wine. Chocolate cake & creme brule & coffees for dessert. A perfect evening! :)
I will take my family to the keg from now on. The attempt at tapas here is poor yet not as bad as the service. Not even worth the price.
Group consisted of 2 elderly and 2 near elderly patrons. Went for supper at 5 pm. and was greeted by a guy in a wrinkled shirt hanging out of his pants. The servers are dressed better than the Host! Escorted past the nice tables with white linen table cloths and was seated near the kitchen and bar. Very noisy area. The soup was good. The remaining dishes were fair. My wife had previously been to this restaurant for brunch with a group of friends. This restaurant appears to be trying to be upscale but fails. It is not much better than a chain roadhouse type restaurant. When paying the bill by credit card the tip is automatically set at 18%; very nervy. I can't see it succeeding.
